OMG. dog, Roxie, has just attempted the unthinkable. It's 1 a.m. and she has decided to move her family of eight into my bed. It has taken me over an hour to convince this very stubborn animal that this is just not possible. Either that or she's just on a break.
It's hard to believe how stubborn this animal actually is. I've down everything short of turning into a maniac over this. It has so impressed me that I must write about our confrontations.
We started off mild with me just putting puppies back in their bed after each attempt at relocation. That eventually devolved into me sitting on the edge of my bed with a bic lighter held out towards my approaching mother dog with a puppy in her mouth saying "NO!."
Only that would dissuade her...the fear of fire!
For now at least I sit on the edge of my bed victorious. No, I will not share my bed with eight three-day-old puppies and their 50lb. mother. We've got to have some boundaries here for heaven's sake.
I have a feeling it's not over.
Round Two 3 A.M.
I win again.
She's decided to lay low until I go to work. I know her evil plan. Muahahahah
She gave up a little to quickly this time.
6:00 P.M.
To her credit Roxie didn't put the puppies in my bed. She put them it my chair next to the bed.
I've tried to be cool about this but the noise is getting to be too much for a person who works 12 hours a day, five to seven days a week. I'm tired and need my rest. Sooooo, I moved them all out of my room to another room close by. Roxie is broken hearted but she'll adjust.

I'm hoping to sleep well tonight.

I had to take Roxie to the vet because she was losing all her hair...probably from the stress of having the puppies. Everything was going ok til a big dog growled at her. The fight was on. She pulled out of her collar and attacked the old dog who was sitting on his master's lap. I was so stunned I just stood there for a moment trying to figure out what to do. Then I just grabbed her tail and pulled her half way across the room and grabbed hold of her. Shewww. The other dog was ok and didn't get bitten. I was shocked at this behavior though and thought it was just a fluke.
Two days later I looked up and Roxie had escaped the backyard somehow. I started calling her and she quickly came to me, I'm sure in anticipation of a treat. I couldn't understand why she was all wet and so I took her into the house to dry her off. I noticed she smelled like perfume.
A few minutes later an angry looking woman was standing at my back gate telling me that Roxie went inside her house and bit one of her two little Taco Bell dogs. OMG! Inside her house! What shall I do? She has 8 puppies and I just wouldn't feel right about taking them all to the pound. I think I'm going to puchase a shock collar and teach her not to jump the fence with it. Dang, I have to buy a choke chain too. My sweet little dog is beating up folks' dogs. I can't believe it.
